• Arthritic Pain

  • Pain, restricted mobility, stiffness, swelling, deformation of boney structures are all symptoms and outcomes of arthritis. There are many forms of arthritis although the two most common are Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis.

Rheumatoid Arthritis is an autoimmune disease whereby the body attacks itself and most commonly affects the joints in the hands and feet.

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative disease most commonly affecting weight bearing joints.

Both forms of arthritis are progressive in nature and thus interfere with our quality of life progressively as we age.

Arthritis is inflammation of the the bone, The bodies inflammatory response is a healing response that targets the area of the bone where the muscles attach to. This process occurs when the affected area is either asked to work excessively or repetitively, this continual force fatigues the bodies muscles causing them to shut down and being that they are the work force within our body that absorbs force / weight / load, the deeper structures of the body have no other option but to begin absorbing the barrage of force. This is what creates all the problems that arthritis bring. The extra blood flow the inflammation brings causes swelling and pain, the continual pulling at the bone where the muscle attaches causes boney spurs or lipping to form, this process becomes a vicious cycle that if untreated only gets worse.
